I was brought into this loyalty software company to manage all marketing, sales and operations across Asia. Having worked with the team when they were known as CSB Engage,I got to wear many hats and loved it! 🎩👒
🥳 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - creating a revolutionary new ecosystem for retail loyalty switching & rewards and bringing high-level partnerships on board (including Nets, MediaCorp, Collinson Group). 🏆Unfortunately, the roll-out was scuppered by Covid. 📞That is when I got the call to be a Coach. I knew I wanted to serve not sell, and switched to working part-time as a coach and consultant with them until I moved to the UK.
COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR
Riverview Mobility Solutions Pte Ltd
May 2015 - Mar 2017
Still in tech-sales, I won new business across ASEAN for this mobile-first loyalty and marketing technology company.
Things I loved about this job!
⭐ winning their biggest account (The Body Shop Malaysia) and being responsible for the commercial, operational & strategic success of their loyalty app.
⭐ spearheading strategic improvements and learning a whole load of new skills by building the plane as I fly it 🔵 helping re-design the customer experience, 🔵 creating a whole bunch of training & onboarding programs, 🔵 scripting, producing and being the voice-over for platform training videos, and 🔵 writing our Finance & HR policies and processes.
Business Development Consultant
The Farm Digital
Oct 2014 - April 2015
I learned all about this new thing called 📱 “social media marketing” during my 7 month consultancy for this social media agency, where I was responsible for formulating and driving new business & marketing strategies.
Client Relationship/Sales Director
Archer Mobile Singapore AND CSB ENGAGE (now Gratifii)
Mar 2011 - Sep 2014
Working with a small team of senior leaders in Singapore, we represented the Asian head-office of 2 different software as a service companies:
🏹 ARCHER – leveraging MMS as a mobile mass-marketing tool
👍 CSB ENGAGE – a loyalty platform & digital marketing agency
🤹🏽♀️ Whilst I worked initially on CSB Engage, I soon found myself running the Archer business day to day. This included winning all the new business, and single-handedly managing the MMS campaigns from creative brief to production, broadcast & analytics. A one-woman show!
🥳 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 at Archer:
⭐ working with the 3 mobile networks in Singapore to establish platform connectivity, and negotiating a common commercial MMS rate to offer nationwide campaigns to advertisers at 25% of previous costs.
⭐ winning Citibank Worldwide – I generated and managed a successful global proof of concept, then oversaw our platform integration into SAP to service Citibank Worldwide as an approved channel of choice.
⭐ winning Mercedes Benz, Kia, Citroen, Courts, McDonalds, UOB Bank and DBS Bank, National Trade Union Congress (NTUC), StarHub Mobile and Metro department store.
You may have noticed above, 👍 CSB Engage were the in-house sister company to Archer Mobile 🏹. Whilst my primary focus was Archer, I continued to work with CSB Engage, opening the right doors with partners for both the launch of a mobile deals platform and for the Aviva Fit & Well program.
I held a variety of roles at JWT, which hop-scotch a little, as I had my 2 daughters during this time. Here in chronological order.
🏆 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 – for Unilever Regional.
🏆 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 for a regional sales promotion joint venture with Australian-based Sales Success (during the job interview, I shared that I was 4 months pregnant, and negotiated a deal to hire a Senior Account Director to report into me when I went onto maternity leave). Credit to them, they hired me and I managed a team of 5 working on Diageo, Nokia, Tiger Breweries.
🏆 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 for Singapore’s Economic Development Board. Managing my own account servicing and creative teams as well as overseeing overall project co-ordination with their digital and media buying agencies for through the line campaigns.
🏆 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐫, 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭-𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 – during both my pregnancies – not for one, but 2 office build projects! Bustling around with my big belly, relocating 3 agencies, and working with up to 30 senior stakeholders, designers project managers, Feng Shui masters and workplace strategists.
Another job where I was a one-woman power-house 💪🏽
I established a local presence for Creative Sales Marketing Group - an Australian-headquartered promotions agency in Singapore, which we subsequently merged into Clemenger BBDO Singapore.
⭐ Things I loved about this job – learning the ropes of campaign implementation and print-production. It was just me in the Singapore office, but motivation was never a problem. I managed the Motorola, Subway and Visa single-handedly with support from my mentor and team in Australia.
⭐ taking a bus that the team and I had designed to look like a giant Subway sandwich in to work every day! 🥖
One of the highlights of my career! RedCard were the guerrilla marketing arm of Ogilvy in Asia Pacific and my first foray into Client Servicing.
I was responsible for:
👀 legalised “stalking” (ahem ethnographic research) for Secret LivesTM. Working with Nike, Clinique & Gillette to test and implement strategic hypotheses, we conducted deep-dives into the lives of consumers obsessed with skin-care and make-up, got under the skin of male-grooming in India and influenced the most influential sneaker-heads.
🪒 managing regional campaigns for Unilever and Gillette affording me extensive retail marketing exposure of FMCG brands across Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea, China and Vietnam.
UK - VARIOUS
Feb 1998 - Jan 2004
Are you still reading this?
Yes? Well, let me summarise the earlier part of my career in case your eyes are glazing over 😵
I started my career as an intern and consultant with the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐚 for 9 months, creating packaging tutorials and responding to product and marketing enquiries for the International Trade Centre, and the International Telecoms Union.
But I quickly grew frustrated with the slow-pace of the public sector, and moved back to the UK.
I always knew that I wanted to go to be in advertising, so I could leverage the 2 parts of my brain that needed feeding; my commercial AND creative sides.
I started as a personal assistant to the CEO of Finex, a direct marketing agency (now The Gate Worldwide). After 6 months, I was given the opportunity to “try my hand at sales” and lo-and behold – I got a client appointment on my first call. Within my first year, I was heading up the Business Development team of 3 people.
Over the course of 6 years, I also worked for 𝐑𝐏&𝐅 and 𝐓𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧, both direct marketing agencies, where I was responsible for marketing the agencies and winning new business.
🥳clients won include Unilever, BBC Worldwide, Financial Times, JMC, AMP Pearl, YMCA, Civil Aviation Authority, UK Online, and Yell Group and more.
If you’ve read this far – well done 😉 You deserve a cup of tea ☕
𝐩.𝐬. It was during my time at Finex that I was sent to Singapore for 3 months to bring in much-needed new business. I did just that, with an upfront capital investment by Auto-Cad. I fell in love with Singapore and when I moved there in 2003, was hired back by Finex (now called The Gate) as a consultant to set up their new business department.
